HIIIII CRABFRIENDS and welcome to this years round of Winter guest applications!! Aaand our first on the site >:D yahoo!

Please be sure to read thoroughly for all the details about both the upcoming batch and the applications themselves if you plan to apply!

ARTIST SELECTIONS

We will be choosing 8 artists from the applications to make one design each for our December batch! Chosen artists will be announced on Monday, November 25th and will be subsequently be messaged a link to a Discord server for the event.
For this batch, there may also be mod participation depending on personal availability!
Additionally, we would like to encourage the usage of winter themes in this batch of designs! Not required, but highly suggested :] get into the spirit of things!

Artists will be given a selection of bases to choose from! We don’t want anyone to feel limited to one single pose >_o7 Guest artists will be given around a month to work, and will be allowed up to one rare trait in the design. A schedule, which includes mandatory WIP checks, will be posted in the GA server for our chosen artists reference.

Guest artists are NOT allowed to share WIPs of their designs anywhere other than the GA server!

No NSFW will be permitted as all designs must be kept age appropriate. If you’re not sure if yours passes, please check in!

As per usual, only artists 18 or older will be permitted to apply for the guest position. This is due to Paypal’s rules against minors having accounts, as Paypal is required to invoice and receive payments for this batch.
If you’re under 18, keep an eye out for opportunities! There will be more batches that minors can apply for in the future :]

BASIC INFORMATION

Each design is priced at $60 and will be FCFS! All profits will go to each artist. The finished adopts will be posted on Saturday, December 28th, with a preview going up the day before so you can be ready to claim at the time of posting!

APPLICATION

You must have a Mignyan site account in order to apply. We will also need to see an active social media account of yours.
There will be a section to include your Mignyans username, a spot for external social links, a link to your gallery (DA, TH, etc.), links to your design examples (sta.sh folder, created section on toyhouse, etc.), and why you would like to be a guest artist for this batch!

If you don’t get chosen for this round, be a good sport and don’t worry - there’ll always be future opportunities!

You’re free to apply if you’ve worked with us before, just keep in mind that we do prioritize those we haven’t yet worked with :3 New community members who have joined from the current anniversary event are highly encouraged to apply!!

I'm still here.

It's been extremely heartening to see all of the new invaders.
I feel like we have a bright future ahead of us if we can get our heads on straight and actually do the invasion thing.

Unfortunately, that requires some degree of group cohesion... which we, as a species, do not have the luxury of. Being so spread out across the universe as we are, there's a snowball's chance in Hell that we're ever going to be able to agree on anything. Even now, some people are trying to weasel their way out of their duty.*

But, on a smaller scale, we can make this work. It'll just require some... people skills.

WEEK 7: MEETING

A lot of our issues could be fixed by, I don't know... talking to the people around us? Even a seasoned invader can find something to learn from a newly spawned crab. It's all about perspective. Go out there and get some new ones. Or just sit in a boardroom and count the water stains on the ceiling tiles. That's what I've been doing this past few hours.

DRAWN REQUIREMENTS

• All pieces must be SFW.
• Your piece must at least be flat color. No shading or backgrounds required.
• Your piece must include at least 50% of one undisguised Mignyan in frame.
• Pieces must reflect the prompt in some way, but can be interpreted as desired.
• If you do not own a Mignyan, you can ask someone else if you can draw theirs OR use our NPCs.
• Submissions may be sent to the Anniversary 2024 Gallery, before being submitted to the Anniversary 2024 Prompts.

WRITING REQUIREMENTS

• All work must be SFW - minor language is allowed.
• Minimum of 300-350 words.
• Pieces must reflect the prompt in some way, but can still be interpreted as desired.
• Work must feature one Mignyan, though non-Mig background characters are allowed.

What an unexpected turnout.

I'm back, as promised. Just had a little something that I wanted to point out.

My last missive went out about 4 days ago, almost to the minute. Since then,
602 users have joined the site and 289 users have joined the Discord.

To everyone that's been spreading the infection, I'd like to state that I'm very proud of you. To those who have yet to join... Well, I'll be proud of you, too, when you get here. Not a minute sooner, though. I don't have that much love in my heart to go around.

With such an explosion in population, maybe we need to put a few changes in place...

WEEK 6: ORDER

Chaos has no place in an organized effort like this one. If everyone's running around like headless chickens, nothing will get done. I'm just one person, though, it's not like I have sole reign over the entirety of the invading force. Change comes from the inside. What are you doing to keep things in line?
(What is it this time? Oh, they're supposed to be "up to interpretation?" Fine. Whatever.)
... Or maybe you're just flipping burgers, I don't know. I've been told to tell you that "order means whatever you want it to mean." At least I get paid.

I’m dieing for a little cool wind please just a smidgen… That aside though, we hope that our activities this month can bring a little pep to your step this warm November. Let’s jump right into it-

Or afternoon, or night, or whatever time it is where you live. These things aren't up to me. I was told that I'd be doing this orientation online, so let's get to it.

From what I've gathered, the old "masterlist" was hosted on another site, public-facing and nestled among dozens of others like it. While I can understand the value of hiding in plain sight, I can't help but think that was a little bit shortsighted. Be real. We're not trying to broadcast our existence to the whole world, here. That sort of defeats the purpose. In the interest of keeping the invasion on a low profile, the entirety of the pre-existing masterlist has been migrated to this new site, as well as some Mignyans made during its development period. From here on out, all functions of the species (approvals, prompts, group currency and shops, adopts, announcements, etc.) will be done through the site.

My employers have told me that this is meant to serve a dual purpose: a list of all invaders, past and present, and a gathering hub for activity related to the invasion. Apparently this will "streamline some processes." Always a good thing to have, in my opinion. Unfortunately, they're both very busy- one of them with being a hotel (not sure how that works) and the other with his own job (despite being dead)- so you will be seeing more of me from here on out.

I'll send everyone a copy of the Site Guide to peruse. It's worth a read- almost everything you could need to know about using the site is there, including how to register, verify your account, and transfer your inventory. I'd recommend going over it thoroughly, and referring back to it if you find yourself lost.
While we're here, though. I'd like to address the more pertinent news first: the "MYO event."

FREE MYO EVENT

Things are going to work a bit differently this year. Either read on for full details, or click here to skip to a very condensed summary. Reading the announcement in full is recommended!

If you've never designed a Mignyan before... first of all, welcome! Second of all, it might be helpful to browse the Masterlist, or read our Species Guide and Trait Guide to get an idea of what can and can't be done with a Mignyan, and the traits you might like to use.

All event participants will receive a free Uncommon slot.
You can also obtain 1 free Rare trait upgrade by joining the Discord and supplying proof. If you're already in the Discord, you get this by default!

To receive your Uncommon slot, you need to sign up for the Planet Mignyan website, and make a toyhou.se bulletin /  deviantART journal advertising it, then submit this prompt with a link to your bulletin or journal. Including proof of your Discord server membership will get you your Event Rare Trait.
Unlike previous years, there is no time limit on making a design for these slots! Feel free to take your time, or get a custom from another artist.

Additional Rare traits can be bought in our new Protein shop using our new currency, Proteins. These are available at a highly discounted rate! You can buy up to 12 event Rare traits for 5 Proteins each- enough to buy and use every rare trait. These event Rare traits can only be used on the event MYO slots.
After that, you can buy up to 3 additional Rare traits for use later! These can be used on any MYO slot.
Rare traits obtained from this event cannot be traded!

To obtain Proteins, you can complete our weekly prompts (reward 15 Proteins each), or draw others' Mignyans and submit them to our Art for Others gallery (rewards a varying amount of proteins, from 5-15. Adding a background to a piece gives a flat reward of 10 Proteins.)
If you've already completed October's weekly prompts, you can submit them to the Anniversary 2024 Gallery, then to the Anniversary 2024 Prompt to receive your rewards. If you buy all of the Rare traits you can and still have Proteins left over, no need to worry! There will be more uses for Proteins in the future.
As of the posting of this announcement (November 1st, 2024), the current active prompt is Week 5: Changes. By completing this, you can earn enough Proteins to get your first 3 Rare traits.

 Another way to get full Rare traits would be this year's paid option. This is fully optional, and you can obtain every available Rare trait without paying. If you don't want to obtain Rare traits through prompts or art, you can pay $15 to upgrade your slot to a full Rare slot. To get a paid slot upgrade, please fill out this form.
All money collected from this event will go towards future site costs and maintenance! Stats will be posted at the end of the event in the interest of transparency.

TL;DR

• Get your Uncommon slot by signing up for the site and advertising the event.
• Get one Rare trait by joining the Discord.
• Get more Rare traits by earning proteins and buying them in the shop.
• Upgrade your uncommon slot to a Rare slot (unlimited rare traits) by filling out the form and paying $15.

Changes

Being on a new site and all, we've decided that now is the time to make some balancing changes to how things are done. Here, we'd like to address some of the most prominent, and how they might affect Planet Mignyan going forward.

Note that all of these things are subject to change. This is a huge adjustment for all of us, and we're experimenting to see what will and won't work for our species to make sure it thrives going forward. If you have any ideas, questions,  comments, or concerns to bring up, please contact us. For site-related inquiries, please use our report form.  For non-site related inquiries, please message us in the #questions-suggestions channel in our Discord.

Some of these changes have already been announced. We're just putting them here so that everything is in one place.

Currency

• Prompt Points have been replaced with a new currency: Teeth. 1 Prompt Point is worth 10 Teeth.
• Monthly prompts will reward the same amount as they currently do: 10 Teeth for 1-part prompts, 20 for 2-part.
• All past prompts can now be repeated once per month, with halved rewards.
• Proteins have been added as an additional currency. You can earn them through events or art for others. More methods may be introduced in the future.
• Proteins can be used in the Protein shop to buy some items at a discounted rate- or, in the future, cosmetic items for your account.
• Proteins can also be converted into Teeth in the Protein shop, at a rate of 2 Proteins to 1 Tooth. You can only earn 20 Teeth per month through this method.

ITEMS

• Items can now be traded for art, designs, or items from other species/pet sites that allow outside trading. Items cannot be resold for real life currency.
• The price of Meat Glue has been increased from 3 Prompt Points (30 Teeth) to 35 Teeth.
• The price of Meat Scraper has been decreased from 2 Prompt Points (20 Teeth) to 10 Teeth.
• Meat Scraper is now available in the Protein shop for 10 Proteins.
• The price of Meat Dye has been decreased from 4 Prompt Points (40 Teeth) to 20 Teeth.
• Meat Dye can now be used alongside Uncommon or Rare upgrades to give a Mignyan color traits such as Colored Meat or White Meat.
• The price of Uncommon Trait Upgrades has been increased from 2 Prompt Points (20 Teeth) to 35 Teeth.
• The price of Suspicious Meatballs has been increased from 5 Prompt Points (50 Teeth) to 75 Teeth.
• FTOs can purchase their first Suspicious Meatball for 45 Teeth.
• The item Gummy Vitamin has been added. A Gummy Vitamin can be used once per redesign to allow a Mignyan with an illegal trait to keep that trait. This can only be used on Mignyans with preexisting illegal traits.
All prices are subject to change! Some may be raised or lowered depending on how the community interacts with them.

Traits and Designs

• Holes in meat [SR] and Sentient meat [SR] have been dissolved as traits. Owners of Mignyans with these traits will be compensated with special Extended Super Rare Upgrades, which allow for the use of Objects in meat, Edible meat, or Meat hair in addition to the standard Color changing meat, Meat halo, or Meat mouth.
• Mignyans, regardless of rarity, can now have holes present in their meat that go all the way through. Any holes that don't go all the way through the meat are still ruled as being Sockets [UC].
• Quills [UC] that resemble teeth can now count as Teeth towards a Mignyan's legality.
• Patches of Rotting meat [UC] can now have Bones [UC], Organ growth [R], teeth, and eyes growing on them.
• Organ growth [R] can now have Bones [UC], teeth, and eyes growing on it.
• Organ growth [R] can now be submerged in meat.
• Shells [C] can now have Mineral deposits [UC] growing from them.
• Red meat [C] and Colored meat [UC] can now have color variation akin to bruising, mottling, et cetera. This color variation can be more extreme in the case of Rotting meat [UC], but should generally remain "meaty" in appearance... like Meat-kun!
• Tentacle meat [R] can now be a different color on the bottom/sucker portion without requiring Multicolored meat [R].
• NEW (11/01/2024) - The bottom/sucker portion of Tentacle meat [R] can be white without requiring White meat [R].
• Scales [UC] can now be in the form of full plating, such as a snake's underbelly scales. These scales can be slightly lighter or darker than the meat color without requiring Multicolored meat [R]. A diagram can be found here.
• "Albino meat" has been renamed to "White meat" [R] for clarity and sensitivity purposes.
• The names of "Flesh on face" and "Meat on body" have been standardized to "Meat on face" [R] and "Meat on body" [UC].
• NEW (11/01/2024) - Teeth can now be visible growing fully submerged in Translucent meat [R].
