[ANNI-24] prompt four - memories

The phone trills as the newly infected mignyan waits for this 'Uncle Dave' individual to answer. There weren't any parents in his host's contacts, nor anyone who seemed to be a family member. Other than Uncle Dave, of course.

He's nervous. Who wouldn't be? Ge just killed someone. For his own safety, sure, but murder is murder. There's no changing that. There's no way anyone his host knows could possibly forgive him. How could anyone even want to be around a freak like-

"What the hell do you want, Guy? I told you yesterday, I don't have anything to give you. I don't even WANT to give you anything!"

..Guy? Guy.. Right! The host.

"Um.. Hi, this is.. Uncle Dave?" The mignyan's voice is weak and hoarse from all the crying, he's surprised he managed to get anything out.

"Yeah? You know who I am. What's your deal?" He sounds a little more empathetic than he did in his previous response.

"I-" He pauses, holding in more tears. After a second or two, he forces it out. "I killed him! I didn't want to infect him but I had no other choice! I didn't want to die I'm- I'm sorry.." Tears roll as he waits for a response.

"Woah woah, hey, infect? what do you mean??"

"I'm.. a mignyan. I've infected your nephew and I'm.. so sorry.."

Uncle Dave chuckles. "Well shit, congratulations! And good luck, no one really likes the guy you're in."

The mignyan's confusion ceases all tears. "Wait, you- What?! How- Wh- HUH?!"

"Yeah, no, come to think of it, this could really benefit us.. Hey, I know this is real sudden but couldja come over to my compound?" He lets out a small laugh. "I know a pretty good way to turn around the reputation you're host has, and a pretty good way of makin' cash."

The mignyan pauses, completely flabbergasted. Why is he so.. calm about all this? No, he's.. he's almost excited! Does he even know how dangerous mignyans can be?! This guy's crazy, but it would certainly be a good idea to go along with his plan.

"Okay.. I'll see what I can do. Um, where is it exactly?"

"Ah, did you not get that tidbit from him? I'll send it to you right now, see you then, nephew!" He hangs up, and soon after, just as he said, he sends an address.

The mignyan stands up, and begins to head that direction. It seems to be a decent walk, but it'll be worth it. Maybe the mignyan can think about who his host was, so he can try to assist Uncle Dave with the whole "turning the reputation around" thing. Let's see..

Guy was full of nothing but hate. Hate and loathing for anyone and everyone he came into contact with. His parents did their best but there was nothing they could do. Once they died, Guy damn near celebrated the fact that they weren't on his ass 24/7 anymore.

Uncle Dave still kept in contact, but would eventually cease all conversation, only sending the occasional bit of money so Guy wouldn't starve on the side of the street. But even then, Guy and Uncle Dave bickered constantly, no matter what the conversation was originally about.

Despite the constant hatred for everyone and everything, Guy had nothing going on. He had no one, no friends and no loving family. No job to keep him finanically stable, no spouse to love him, no one to keep him in check. Just.. Uncle Dave.

Speaking of, Uncle Dave's compound shouldn't be too far from where the mignyan is now. Hopefully he gets there before his legs give out.. or just him in general. Believe it or not, infecting someone and bawling your eyes out immediately after is quite exhausting.

And finally, after what felt like forever, the mignyan reaches the compound. It seems to be some sort of a.. cult. But who are we to judge? His shaky hand makes its way to the door, prepared to knock, when-

"Heey, you made it!- Ooh, you don't look too well."

A man with silvery shoulder length hair and an unbuttoned floral shirt, Uncle Dave, answers the door.

"..Hi.." The mignyan, experiencing a level of exhaustion he's never felt before, barely manages to make a sound.

Uncle Dave furrows his brow and gives a concerned look. He sighs. "Luckily I had some of my folks set up a room for you. Here, follow me."

The two begin to make their way down a hall. The walls are fairly bland, with the occasional painting here and there. Sometimes there'll be a clock, or a window. Lots of doors. What even is this place??

"So, uh," Uncle Dave breaks the silence. "You got a name you want to use?"

"No, I didn't.. really think of that."

"Well, you could always play into the whole 'I'm a changed man' bit and use your host's name." He grins. "It'd be pretty beneficial to the both of us!"

The mignyan nods his head. "I'll think about it, but, how would it benefit us? It's just.. a name."

Uncle Dave gives the mignyan's back a few hearty pats. "I'll explain that after you get some rest, it's some complicated stuff."

He nods, and the two keep walking. They go up a few flights of stairs, which tires the mignyan even more. This story is.. different than the others. Less doors, barely any windows, the shitty paintings are still prevalent though.

After just a bit more walking, Uncle Dave stops at a door. He has to pull on the mignyan's arm to stop him too. Uncle Dave opens the door to reveal a comfy looking bedroom. It's barebones, but by god, it most certainly will work.

The mignyan places a hand on Uncle Dave's shoulder. "Dudeman. and.. thank you."

Dudeman staggers towards the bed, and drops himself on it, passing out immediately.

Uncle Dave smiles softly, turns out the lights, and shuts the door. He shakes his head and lets out a small laugh. "He'll change his mind on that, i'm sure."

Dudeman does not change his mind on that.
